Chinese New Year is almost here. The Lexington Kentucky Chinese community celebrated January 30th with a Chinese market and show at the Lexington Opera House. My grandchildren came as did many other families.
Volunteers at our table
Blessing Hands was especially blessed to have a table in the Holiday Market before the show. We had three great volunteers from the CIFA (Chinese International Fraternity Alliance) group at the University of Kentucky. They spoke to Chinese who came to our table and went out into the crowd to give out post cards and ask people to come by our table. Thank you very much Qiao (Kenneth) Liang, Ruochun (Rachel) Zhao, and Yankun (Jada) Wang.
The Charles Crouch Family gives Monthly Support
I got to meet supporters and new friends like the Crouch family, who send in a monthly gift to sponsor a student in China.
Sign up to give a monthly gift to sponsor a student in China. $24 for primary, $30 for middle school, $37 for high school or $54 for a college student each month will sponsor them for a year.
Lilian Li from the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky
Lilian Li from the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky stopped by to offer her help to our students. Others were interested in volunteering for our summer projects in China. We will have a Friendship Camp in Anlong, Guizhou Province this coming summer from June 21st - 26th. Twenty eight of Anlong's High School's English teachers will participate as volunteers and perhaps students.
Happy Year of the Monkey to you all on February 8th.
Betty Cutts, Founder and Director of Blessing Hands
I am a mother and housewife that loves China and children. The two interests
have come together in serving the children of China who need help with
educational needs. I started as a teacher in an English summer camp and got to
know the teachers first. When I toured their schools and met their precious
students, I could see many needs and decided to try to help. I first started a
fund to assist children with tuition, but it has expanded into a 501(c)(3)public
charity granting money for textbooks and school supplies for primary school and
lower middle school students and tuition for older students.
