Satu Villages gets water.

A Great Day for Satu Village!
Satu Village in the Chin State of Myanmar has a total population of around 252 people in 42 households. A middle school and rural health sub-center are there. The villagers are almost all farmers cultivating rice, corn, and vegetables. Some villagers breed chickens, goats, cows, mythons (a type of buffalo), and pigs to sell in larger towns. Some used to go to Matupi, the county seat 56 miles away, to make money from casual work.

No more carrying water daily.
Satu Village's old water source was 1.86 miles from the village. It often dried up, especially in summer. Then they had to carry water from a water source 3.6 miles away. Lack of water affected their health and standard of personal hygiene. By themselves, they could not afford the water pipe needed to bring water to the village.

Satu villagers were overwhelmed with joy to hear that Blessing Hands would donate $3,597 for the pipe and fittings they wanted so much. The water was really urgent for them. They worked together digging a ditch for the pipe, laying the pipe, and covering it. Our administrator in Maraland, Pa Myint Naing, monitored the project. He reported that they did a very good job.

The pipe was delivered just in time since the coup that brought a military government to Myanmar has made transportation and banking difficult. We are putting our plans to help ten village schools on hold until money can safely be wired into Myanmar again. We were able to wire a small amount for the English summer school.

3 Month English School
New and Old Tabu Villages are carrying out their usual summer 3-month English school sponsored by Blessing Hands. This year three teachers are teaching 130 students of various ages. Last year there were only 100 students.

The students are very eager to attend since their schools have been closed for the whole school year because of the Covid-19 virus. There is no virus in their remote area, so the village elders decided to go ahead with the English School.

Notice that they have electricity this year from the solar panels we gave them. The students in the first picture are sitting in the new desks the villagers made from wood Blessing Hands supporters gave them. In two pictures they are holding up new English books given by friends of Blessing Hands.

There are more students this year since many Taubu villagers have returned home because of the unrest in the cities. The villages are safer than the towns. Many colleges have closed, and the country's medical system has collapsed with demonstrations and strikes.
