An Emergency in Myanmar

About 221 students in 160 households from Negephepi Village left their homes suddenly when they heard that tribal soldiers were coming to their mountain top. Blessing Hands bought equipment for their school in 2020. The villagers fled about 20 miles into India to safety in Mawhro Village near Siasi Refugee Camp. Civil unrest has especially ravaged the ethnic villages of Chin State. The conflicts between armed tribal groups have been very dangerous. There is also danger from soldiers of the government coup.

The Negephepi Villagers left with what they could carry. They need food, shelter, and clothing. The Mara minority people live on both sides of the Indian border and have relatives and churches in both countries. Our Blessing Hands administrator in Maraland has asked for $1,500 to help with the displaced refugees' needs.

Will you give any amount for this emergency? Our website has a Myanmar giving pageClick this Link to give. You can also send us a check at Blessing Hands, 106 Timber Lane, Morehead, KY, 40351. Our goal is $1,500 for this immediate refugee need. Each of the 160 families will be able to get help.

New Lovai School in Chin State Needs

$500 for a Wooden Floor

The New Lovai School serves 32 students from primary to middle school ages. This temporary bamboo building will not last long. They have started a new wooden school with a metal roof, but they need $500 to buy lumber for the floor. This village is an expansion of Old Lovai Village.

In Maraland schools, the simple classrooms are separated by bamboo petitions. They get their natural light from large open windows.  We helped them with a metal roof and wooden frame, but they still need a wooden floor to get them out of the mud. Will you help them build their new school?

Notice the "blackboard". They plan to use  the wood to make a floor and furniture themselves. The village has a road for supplies.

They have two "teachers" but little else in the way of materials or books. This is a new village less than a year old.

There are 10 Students at New Lovai School Who Need Sponsorships.

Blessing Hands has decided to sponsor ten students in this new school. The students need school uniforms required by the government after the British school model. They also need school supplies such as paper, pencils, required pins, and books. Their school fees are also required for the year. The primary students can be sponsored at $50 a year, but the middle school students need $150 a year. You can select a student on our Facebook page Link.  Just message us, and we will help you find out more about each student.

Shwe Ni Win is the youngest in her family. She has two older brothers. Her parents are subsistence farmers raising chickens, pigs, and goats, but they cannot afford the school expenses. Their economy uses barter not money and land belongs to the whole village. You can sponsor a younger student for $50 a year. Message us if you can help. Our administrator will purchase the school supplies, uniforms, and school books.

Be Hlet Lin has nine brothers and sisters. Her father works as a helper at the school, but he is not in good health. Her mother looks after the family. They cannot afford the school fees of $150 for middle school without your help. There are three 7th grade students among the 10 students.  Message us if you want to sponsor one. Most tribal students quit school after middle school, but they can board at a high school in other larger villages.

You can give a student's yearly support on our Website.  These are only sample students. You can see them all on our Facebook page.
