New Website for Blessing Hands

New Web Page

Google Rocks!

I have created a new webpage with a little help from my son.
We have had a great website made by students. from MSU, however, I could never upgrade it, and they graduated and went on to jobs and lives.

Recently I found Google Sites that will let me create and manage our own website. I can update it just like doing a newsletter and add information very easily. You can even select a student to sponsor from two slide shows.

Now our advertising grant from Google will work much better with responsive landing pages for our ads. I am excited about the possiblities. There is only one bad thing - it might not get through China's great firewall.

Eat Pizza and help Chinese Children

This Thursday, January 21st - 5-8 p.m. at Kroger Center

You can eat and help us raise money for our kids this Thursday. CiCi's

They also have a rewards system that will give Pepperoni passes to those who give out fliers with their names on the back. The fliers given in with their names earn them passes for free pizzas values.

Come eat for us at the Morehead's CiCi's next Thursday.

New Children's Epidemic Prevention Project

Mandy Ma, my friend who used to work for the World Vision Charity, is helping us with a  Children's Epidemic Prevention Project in two villages high in the mountains several hours away from Nanning, China. It is in the remote country side in the Du'an Township of Hechi District. It takes nearly 4 hours on foot to get there from the nearest town. There are several thousand Yao ethnic minoritychildren in this UNESCO designated proverty area. They are deprived by their environment, scarce water, and inconvenient location to medical care. The children lack nutrition and even basic medical security like vaccinations. They had a measles outbreak two years ago.

Amy Chen, who works in the health station there and knows the needs of these kids, will administer the program. The soil of this region is stony, erosive, and dry with karst  mountains isolating them from the outside world, especially  basic public health.

Two target villages have been selected for this pilot project. Two village healers have been recruited to coordinate with the township health center. Since the Yao are an ethnic group under their own automomous rule, the local healer will need to play a cultural role acceptable to the local people in this remote countryside.

E
ach month the local "doctor" will be given a $14.68 (100 yuan) subsidy.  The total sum will be $14.68 X 12 (months) x 2 = $352 (2400 yuan) for one year. Amy Chen will be in charge of training the village "doctors", and negotiating the contract with them.

We intend to write a grant for a much bigger projectafter the pilot project gets started. If you or your foundation would like to fund such a larger project please contact us.

If you want to give toward this  present project go to this link.

Chase Community Giving Contest

There is a 7 day window to vote that ends Friday the 22nd.
You get five votes selecting from 100 charities. Several of them help children go to school in China. Please vote. It's free.

Chase Community Giving  It can be incredibly rewarding when your vote has a local impact. Chase is giving away $5 million to  five charities and needs you to help pick which ones. Simply vote for your favorite nonprofit and then get friends and others on Facebook to do the same.

I suggest the following ones who  help Children.

If you don't have a Facebook account, it is easy to sign up for one at Facebook.com.  You have a chance to help a lot of kids just by voting. Go to it.

Your charity dollar goes far in China and with our volunteers and part time administrators in China, it goes even farther.  92% of what you give goes to the kids we support. All sponsor designated support goes to that child.
