#GoodGivingGuide Challenge - November 13th - Dec 31st.

Blessing Hands is involved with the GoodGiving challenge that will help 100 chosen KY nonprofits raise money for their causes. The charity that raises the most in the various size categories will win $5,000 for their endowments at the Bluegrass Community Foundation. The categories count how much is donated and how many donors support what causes. Those donations can come from all over the world.

Matching Funds

Blessing Hands is looking for friends willing to establish matching gift promotional challenges. We can raise more money if supporters will give us matching gifts from $100 on up to $500 + so we can challenge other givers to match the gift. Contact usabout being a matching donor.

CrowdFunding Pages

Another way you can help our kids receive a $5,000 endowment prize is to become an Ambassador. You would create your own online crowdfunding page with the help of an Ambassador toolkit at this link. We especially need pages in Chinese since the GoodGiving Challenge is international. All the money you raise for Blessing Hands will go to our students or to give 24 computers to Du'an Special Education School in China.

Help us raise awareness and funds for our Blessing Hands students by saving the date and making a donation online from November 13-December 31 on our share page.

These students will only go to school until age 15.
Their schooling will end with 9th grade.
Give 24 Computers to Du'an Special Education School

Our GoodGiving Goal is to raise $13,000 to give 24 computers to Du'an special education school in China. We want to give the students an opportunity to learn to communicate online where their handicap will not be noticed, and they can develop vocational skills.

These computers will serve deaf, blind, and wheelchair bound students. I even saw one dwarf and an autistic child. Since compulsory education ends at the 9th grade in China, these students only have until middle school graduation to learn occupational skills. Computer knowledge could help them get jobs someday. We must intervene in these students lives to give them a step up in opportunities.

Our share page is where you can give starting November 13th. You can also give on our Website.

The Wuxuan County Program Adds More Children
Will it be 9 or 5 who are helped?

We were so pleased with the volunteers' dedication in the Wuxuan area, that we told them to select 5 more students for Blessing Hands to help.  However, they had found 9 children they wanted to help. It will be up to your help if we take all nine or only the five.

Qin Liying and her sister Qin Qinli are orphans. Her father died August, 2015 of  electrocution.  Their mother suffers from mental illness. Once she even tried to strangled one child during an attack of illness. Five years ago, the mother ran away. So far she is still missing.

Qin Qinli is 9 and in the 3rd grade.

Qin Qinli, the 9 year-old stepsister of Qin Liying, hasn't been allowed to register a hukou,  which would have given her a birthright to government services. She is a non-person who will live outside the protection of the law. She lives without any subsistence allowance, access to a high school degree, legal work permit, or future legal marriage. She is 9 years old but looks like a 7 year-old because of malnutrition. Both girls suffer from poverty and lack of provisions.

Pick a child online since we can't feature them all here.

School Supplies Given
School Supplies Surprise Students
Yao Minority Schools Receive School Supplies
While it is good weather, Dr. Dai and his volunteers have delivered new school supplies to the schools we have adopted in the Longfu County of Du'an. These schools that serve kindergarten - 2nd grade are very remote and hard to get to. We had to get out and walk this summer when our team tried to go up the steep road on the way to Lin Wang School.

These kids need exercise books, pencils, erasers, art supplies, and sports equipment such as hula hoops. basketballs, ping pong supplies, and other things. They can't hop in a car and go to town and even if they could, their families don't have the money to spend.Their teachers board at the schools, going home occasionally. They do have new schools, desks, and nutritious lunches now.
We have cash jars in local Chinese restaurants that collect money for this program. Some students have sponsors and receive backpacks and other gifts like clothes or shoes. We also pay the salary of health assistants for 10 village schools in Du'an County. They are first responders when medical care is needed. Longfu Hospital works with Blessing Hands to help special families. Recently we helped get glasses for one high school girl.

Arts and Eats Festival
Students Need Sponsors
We featured our students who need sponsors at the Arts and Eats Festival in Morehead and the Moon Festival in Lexington. Several Chinese students volunteered to write people's names in Chinese for a donation.  $133 was donated, and we collected contacts to send our email newsletter. We also made $36 from selling lemonade. Another volunteer team leaded by Christina Zhang and our board member, Erting Pan, manned a table at the Lexington Moon Festival on the same day.
School has started and many students still need sponsors. It is very rewarding to see students grow and fulfill their dreams of education. You can take a student to sponsor. See our students featured on Pinterest.com.

We have accepted 10 new students to sponsor in Gansu Province 甘肃省 with the help of volunteer Roy Hu. These students are all ages from primary to high school. Gansu is a poor province in Northwest China where little rain falls.  Their sponsorship will vary in cost. They will need 1800 yuan ($290) for primary students, 225 yuan ($366) for middle school student, and  2700 yuan ($435) for high school students per year. We are encouraging monthly payments through your bank's bill pay to make the payments easier.

Gansu, located in the Northwest is one of the Provinces of China that lacks water and good soil. Earthquakes, droughts and famines affect the area. Mining, oil, and mineral extraction are their main sources of income.  The Gobi Desert where China's space program is located is partly in the province. It is among the poorest provinces of China with a per capital income of 12,836 RMB (1,879 USD). 73% of the population is rural.
