GoodGiving Matches and Prizes

HOW DOES THE GOODGIVING CHALLENGE WORK?

1. UNIQUE DONORS

Many of the prizes depend on how many unique donors give $25 to our charity over the course of the Challenge. What is a unique donor? If I give $25 and my husband separately gives $25 on his computer, Blessing Hands gets two unique donors.

On THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30th from 9 am to 9 pm, every nonprofit with 50 or more donors of at least $25 will be entered in a drawing for one of three $2,500 endowment prizes. The nonprofit with the highest number of unique donors contributing $25 or more will win a $10,000 endowment prize. The nonprofit with the second-highest number of donors contributing $25 or more will win a $7,500 endowment prize, and the nonprofit with the third-highest number of donors contributing $25 or more will win a $5,000 endowment prize. This challenge is all about participation!

Xiaomin Mai and I visited the Lexington Chinese Christian Church recently to tell them about Blessing Hands and the GoodGiving Challenge. There is a donor who is matching all donations from the church dollar for dollar during the Challenge. Even checks given offline will be matched.

2. HUMAN SERVICES CATEGORY

Another good match for BH donors is on Thursdays from 1 pm to 11:59 pm (or until the pool is exhausted). Traditional Bank is providing a 50 cents per $1 match for nonprofits in the Human Services Category. This match applies to gifts up to $250!

From Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 9 am - Thursday, Nov. 30 at 11:59 pm, there is another good match for Blessing Hands donors - the Human Services Awards. The five nonprofits in the Human Services Category (That is us.) with the highest number of unique donors from the start of the Challenge on Tuesday through Thursday at 11:59 pm will be entered into a drawing for a $1,776 prize!

Allen sits with his father and Principal Tommy of Camphor School in Liberia. He needs a sponsor to give $550 for his tuition and boarding fees.

3. TIMED MATCHES

Other matches depend on timing. On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29th from 9 am to 11:59 am (or until the pool is exhausted) the Macadam Family Foundation at Blue Grass Community Foundation is providing a $25,000 match pool that will match donations of $1 for $1, on gifts up to $50. One hundred and ninety-five charities will all be interested in this generous match. Donors will need to give as soon as possible at 9 am.

A sure way to get your donation matched is to start several minutes before 9 am. Make sure you use the accurate time on your computer or phone. Before nine, click on the donate button and choose to enter as a guest instead of entering a password. Then choose your method of giving (credit card, bank payment, AHC, PayPal, etc.) and fill in your personal information. Then at the strike of 9 am, be poised to click the second donate button.

We sponsor 63 students at En Hui School in Thailand. Forty do not have sponsors and receive their support from our general fund.

4. DAILY PRIZES

4 pm - 6 pm from 4 - 6 pm each day of the GoodGiving Challenge, Mason Investments will match the first $2,500 in donations, 50 cents per $1, on gifts up to $100. Every day during this time frame, the BIue Grass Community Foundation will randomly select a donation to receive a $500 prize!

Each day of the Challenge, Blue Grass Community Foundation will make a special post on one of their social media channels around 12 noon. Simply “like” BIue Grass Community Foundation (@BGCFKY) on Facebook and Instagram and follow the directions in their daily posts to win $250 prize cards for Blessing Hands. You don't have to give any money for this challenge.

Good News!

This year the Challenge had an early match that started November 14th. We have already received $4,441.66 from 23 donors, which has been matched to become $8,883 in the early giving.

Give to the GoodGiving Challenge.
